Johnsonburg Bicentennial

This August, the fire depatment will be celebrating 100 years of service to the community. It is also the 200 year anniversary of Johnsonburg. Look for a brochure at local business to see a schedule of the weekend events or go to http://www.Johnsonburg2010.com

Camper/Brush Fire    

Around 2pm on 7/1/10, Elk Co. 2 & 6 Were dispateched to a camper and brush fire on the Wilcox Rd. All Company 2 & 6 Chiefs, Engines 22, 63, 62, Tanker 201 and Utility 614 responded to the scene. They found that the owner tried to put the fire out by usining his excavator to try and cover the fire with dirt. Firefighters extingushed the remaing camper fire and the 1/4 acre of brush that was burning. All units were cleared around 3 pm.  click here to view more pictures 
Vehicle Fire 6/29/10

At 6:29 p.m. Elk Co. 2 was dispatched for a vehicle fire at the 219/255 intersection. All three chiefs responded to find a vehicle with the brakes on fire. Chief 2 assumed command and held the box to Engine 22. Once on secne, crews used a water can to cool the area. All units were avalibe in 30 minutes.  click here for more pictures 
Mutual Aid with Kane                      

At 10:19 p.m. Tanker 201 was dispatched to assist Kane with a structure fire on Chemical Works Road. All Company 2 Chiefs and 201 responded.  Once on scene the tanker filled a drop pond. Elk Co. 4, 6, & 8 also assisted on the scene. All Johnsonburg Units were avalible at midnight.

New Station Generator

The Johnsonburg Fire Department recently placed in service a new Caterpillar Station Generator. The  Project was  funded by Dept. of Homeland Security (EMV-2008-FO-01232) grant, and donations from The George & Margret Mee Foundation, the estate of George Rezmerski, and the JFD & Johnsonburg Ambulance. We would like to also thank Cleveland Brothers Equipment, Elco Electric, Caviler Roofing, Dale Kessler Enterprises, and Elk County Concrete. Read more  about the generator specifications and see a photo of the commemorative inscription dedicated to all those who helped fund and istall the unit.

Pump I Class June 6 & 7

The Johnsonburg Fire Department hosted a Pump 1 Class on June 6th and 7th. Members of the JFD, Emporium, and Horton Twp. participated in the class that was instructed by Don Neilson and Bill Hohen. Also, we would like to thank Wilcox FD for bringing down Engine 63 for the practical exercise.  click here for more pictures
